DIG magazine

I won't give anything away but you should all check out DIG Magazine.

Stay tuned for the fourth issue. If all goes well it'll be out in a few weeks. In the meantime check out the past issues!

Today Bell's Mind was mentioned on the Asterisk-Users list. We welcome all of those people here and hope they like what they see.

PBX downtime

The PBX is going to be down for a short amount of time. Hopefully it will be less than 30 minutes. I thought it'd be 5 but there's some weird stuff in the CVS HEAD that's holding me up.

I'll post again when it's back up again.

Almond Joy

Well, my bug is fixed. The PBX is back up.

It boiled down to a silly AGI bug on my part, not something in the CVS HEAD (although there was compelling evidence there!).

Sometimes you feel like a n00b, sometimes you don't...

Fixed another bug

Up until now after the FUDforum merge I noticed that exchanges that contained scanned numbers were no longer showing up as bold and italicized in search queries.

I just nailed down the specifics and fixed this bug. Hope this'll churn some interest in the site again.

Calendar functionality added to number database

natas suggested I used my newly written calendar code to display how many numbers were submitted on a certain date. Well, I sat down and pounded it out.

Check out the new calendar and let me know what you think. Also, you can click on a day and see all the numbers submitted on that particular day.

I noticed that we got a lot more submissions in August right after Defcon. Hmmmm...

NANPA daily change list

NANPA now provides daily updates to their list of exchanges, rate centers, and CLLI codes. I've written a few scripts to merge all of the new data into the Bell's Mind database automatically. I successfully did the first update today from whatever old version I was using to the December 13th, 2004 data. 11,000+ changes later I was completely up-to-date.

I just slapped together some pages so users can visualize the changes on a day to day basis. The automated code isn't there yet but the huge example file is. Expect the automated code up there in two days so it can have multiple days worth of data to show. In the meantime enjoy the static data that will, possibly, kill your browser from its girth.

Forgive the bad design of the page. I'm just a hacker.

NANPA changes are now live

Well, it was a slow day for once so I set up a cron job to automate it all and we're ready to go. It updates at 5 PM EST every day.

Check out the NANPA daily changes section of the site.

If you think the calendar sucks it's because I wrote it in under an hour. It's a big hack job. :P

If you're interested in doing batch submissions you need to submit your files in the following format:

NPA,NXX,Suffix,NumberTypeID,Description

NumberTypeID currently is one of the following:

- 2 - DATU
- 3 - Carrier
- 4 - Recording [Error]
- 5 - Recording [Non-error]
- 6 - Bridge
- 7 - Loop
- 8 - Milliwatt
- 9 - ANAC
- 10 - Payphone
- 11 - VMB
- 12 - PBX
- 13 - Backdoor
- 14 - Reorder
- 15 - Tone
- 16 - Elevator
- 17 - Room Monitor
- 18 - TTY
- 9998 - Residence
- 9999 - Business
- 10000 - Sex line
- 10001 - Party line
- 99999 - Unidentified
- 100000 - Batched
- 100001 - Backspoof

Description can be anything you'd like (including spaces and special characters). E-mail them to me with a quick message explaining who you are and your account name and password (so people can't submit stuff in your name). I'll submit them ASAP.

Oh, also make sure there's one entry per line or I won't be able to process your scans!

Free Nextel data kit

Due to some firmware nonsense going on at Motorola there is an issue with A-GPS service. This qualifies anyone with one of the phones listed in the bulletin to get a free data cable to do firmware updates.

If you already subscribe to an A-GPS service (Telenav, etc) you should've received one in the mail. If not you just need to go decide how you want to get your update. Personally I want to get the free data kit and do it myself.

20,000 strong

We just got our 20,000th submission in a batch from Kase2!

Thanks to all who have contributed to help us get to this point. It's really an amazing thing to see how far we've all come and I look forward to us getting many more numbers submitted in the future.

Registration

I didn't really make it clear when I revamped the site initially that I had merged the forum registration with the number submission registration.

In any case, to be clear, if you want to submit numbers or post to the forums you register in the same place. When your registration is complete you can test it out by signing into the forums. Then when you're sure it's working you can submit numbers using the same login information. You'll have to login again though because the two parts of the site don't share cookies.
